The price hikes and shortage of the agro-inputs especially fertilizers are precarious in the world not leaving Ghana to the threat to its food security. The recent war between Russia and Ukraine has disrupted over 30% of the global agricultural products.
To see how Ghana could kick-start the national discourse on intensive support for organic production of agro-inputs and other organic products, the Chamber of Agribusiness Ghana in partnership with the National Farmers and Fishermen Award Winners Association Ghana, Vegetable Exporters, and Producers Association of Ghana, Agric Today Media, Agrivims and other strategic sponsors are organizing the first Ghana Organic Agro Input Fair.
The organic fair with the theme: “Growing a Healthy Industry Towards Food Security and Nutrition” is key with respect to ongoing challenges by Ghanaian farmers to access fertilizers and other inputs.
“We know that the global organic fertilizer industry is worth over $200billion, Ghana needs to start laying its stake and participate actively in that global industry. If Ghana can obtain $1billion out of the $200billion dollars available at the world market, this would help to contribute to jobs, food security, nutrition, and wealth creation”, Farmer Anthony Morrison, the CEO, Chamber of Agribusiness Ghana said in an interview with Agric Today.
Explaining the concept of the fair, he said there would a training for participants both buyers and exhibitors in various aspects of organic production. There would be organic experts and regenerative agriculture experts to train participants on the specific use and production of organic fertilizers.
He called on the general public most especially, lovers of organic products to actively participate in the exhibition to drive the urge for patronizing organic products.
