ANO Institute of Arts & Knowledge is a cultural and ecological organisation based in Ghana, working at the intersection of African indigenous knowledge, regenerative land stewardship, and community-based learning. Through projects such as the Cultural Encyclopaedia, Mobile Museum, and the emerging ANO University, we develop new ways of seeing, remembering, and relating to land, culture, and one another.
Our permaculture farm in the Aburi mountains is part of this wider vision of ecological restoration and regenerative practice.
Role Description
We are seeking a dedicated Land & Farm Manager (Regenerative/Permaculture) for a full-time, on-site position in the Greater Accra Region, Ghana. This is a live-in role with accommodation provided.
The Land & Farm Manager will oversee the care and development of our permaculture-based farm, guiding daily operations while nurturing the land with ecological sensitivity. Responsibilities include managing food gardens, soil regeneration, composting systems, and small livestock; coordinating seasonal planting and harvesting; overseeing irrigation and water management; and ensuring the farm operates in alignment with regenerative and permaculture principles.
The role also involves maintaining farm infrastructure and supporting land-based educational activities, and ensuring the property remains a harmonious, productive, and well-cared-for ecological environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee daily operations of the farm and surrounding land
• Manage food gardens, medicinal plants, and agroforestry systems
• Implement and maintain permaculture and regenerative farming practices
• Oversee soil health, composting, mulching, and seed saving
• Manage irrigation and water systems
• Maintain farm infrastructure, pathways, and natural structures
• Coordinate and supervise additional any contractors
• Ensure long-term ecological health and productivity of the land
• Support occasional workshops, visitors, and educational activities
• Safeguard the property and ensure overall cleanliness and order
Qualifications
• Strong experience in farm management with practical knowledge of sustainable and regenerative agricultural practices
• Hands-on expertise in permaculture, ecological land care, or regenerative farming systems (highly preferred)
• Experience managing irrigation, composting, soil health, and water systems
• Ability to lead teams, manage workflows, and work independently
• Organised, reliable, and attentive to detail
• A degree or training in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Agroecology, or a related field is beneficial but not required
• Passion for ecological sustainability, indigenous knowledge, and land-based living
• Comfortable living full-time on the property
