INVITATION TO SUBMIT PROPOSALS FOR THE PROVISION OF BOREHOLE DRILLING AND INSTALLATION OF SOLAR-POWERED DRY-SEASON IRRIGATION FARMS

The GROW2 project plans to use a portion of its budget to finance the installation of solar-powered irrigation systems in fifteen different locations (one acre per location) across the Northern, Savannah, and Upper West Regions. This initiative aims to improve nutrition and economic opportunities for women. Qualified vendors are invited to apply for this opportunity.

Lot 1

Borehole Drilling and Water Tank Installation
• Conduct, up to three(3), hydrogeological surveys in assigned locations, prepare survey reports with recommended sites for drilling.
• Drilling of a high-yield borehole to provide enough water for a 1-acre (4000m2) dry season garden irrigation.
• Water quality test reports by accredited institutions including water yield analysis report.
• Supply and mount two (2) 4000 liters water storage tanks (Polytanks).
• Construct a galvanized steel platform (4.5m high) as a tank stand for mounting storage tank.
• Construct a concrete platform (4m high) as a tank stand for mounting second storage tank.

Lot 2

Solar-Powered Pump Installation and General Plumbing Works
• Supply and Installation of a secured solar system. The solar array must be sized to power the pump under average sunlight with oversized array by 20-30% to account for inefficiencies and cloudy days. Recommended Size: 2.4 kW to 2.8 kW.
• Highly efficient and durable pumping machine e.g., Grundfos or Lorents. Pump Duty of ~5,000 – 6,000 liters per hour to meet the daily requirement within 5-6 hours of peak sunlight.
• PVC pipes and accessories.
• Installation of main pipelines and trenching to bury pipes (1 foot deep and 100m long).
• Installation of eight (8) standpipes fairly distributed in each field.
• Supply eight (8) water hose (50 meters long).
• Supply of 20 plastic watering cans per field.

Lot 3

Land Clearance and Wire Fencing of 1-Acre Lands
• Wire mesh (height 1.8m and length 15m) quantity for 1-acre land.
• Galvanize round chain link fence posts for 1 acre of land.
• Install chain-link posts and gates for secured perimeters.

Quantity and Location

A total of fifteen (15) solar powered irrigation farms (1 acre each) will be set up in communities across Northern, Savannah and Upper West Regions of Ghana. The breakdown of locations is given below:
