Guzakuza calls on women in the Agribusiness sector to apply for Ignite 2019.

The call for application of the 2019 edition of Ignite, a business incubation programme that provides comprehensive support for African women in agribusiness has been launched in Accra. The programme is soliciting entries from women in the sector who desire deeper exposure to opportunities and possibilities in the sector.

Ignite is a Guzakuza initiative for young women in Agribusiness which is designed to promote job and wealth creation. Every year 15 women are selected across the African continent to participate in this game-changing initiative.

Beginning this eight month programme is a two week online self-assessment and a six month mentorship phase to climax. In between these phases are residential business training, coaching, networking, access to financial streams and internship. Ignite is ably supported by Agripro who are the partners for this year’s Programme.

The Initiator of Guzakuza, Nana Adjoa A. Sifa said, “All African women under forty years who are in the agribusiness start-up phase or have proof of interest in agribusiness are eligible to apply for Ignite 2019. So far it has been an exciting journey and a whole new experience of watching the growth of young women with simple ideas developing into a viable business service or product delivery with a sustainable and profitable plan”. She also called on the media, corporate organisations, women and men groups, churches, government and development agencies to support the programme.

The beneficiaries who went through last year’s ignite incubation programme. These beneficiaries are from five African countries.

In the last three years, 80% of Igniters have built disruptive Agribusinesses in five countries and are supplying value added products and services in the Sector!

“The experience I have had from Ignite has placed me in a favourable position and enabled me to compete in the agribusiness sector with confidence,” says Linda Atibilla from the 2016 edition of Ignite.

Fortune Kyei, the Project Lead sees Ignite as a whole experience of connecting like-minded women in agribusiness, inspiring them to take action and turning ground-breaking ideas into profitable and sustainable businesses.

The CEO of Agripro, Edison Gbenga reiterated that Ignite is indeed raising successful women in agribusiness who are leading change in job and wealth creation in societies.
The theme for Ignite 2019 is “Inspiring Action”.
