The Deputy Minister of trade and industry Hon. Okyere Michael Baafi has admonished farmers and value chain players to embrace agric-tech for maximum production and income earning.

He mentioned that to attain full benefit from the agriculture industry, farmers need to adapt to the modern trend of farming by employing the necessary technology.

Hon. Baafi made this call during the AGRITECH WEST AFRICA-2023 inaugural ceremony at the Accra International Conference Center, converging thousands of people both local and international.

“Although farmers used to clear their lands with cutlasses and hoes during production, the narrative has changed because with the help of technology, machines like plough, harrow, planter, sprayer, etc… have made land preparation less stressful whilst improving yields”, he said.

He clarified that agriculture is profit making venture hence it should be treated as a business rather than a cultural activity, therefore, farmers should engage all forms of technology to attain a needed profit.

Hon. Baafi commended Wegvoraus for such a stunning agritech expo that would contribute immensely to the development of Ghana’s agriculture. According to him, the expo is a good ground for farmers, and value chain actors to share knowledge, skills, and experiences and do B2B for mutual benefit and development of the sector.

He called on farmers, processors, consumers, and the general public to participate in the ongoing 3 days Agritech West Africa Exhibition 2023 to glamour the needed knowledge to upscale production and improve income levels.
