The 40th National Farmers Day celebration has been launched at the Efua Sutherland Park in Accra featuring a series of activities that would be climaxed on Friday, November 8, 2024.
This year marks a significant milestone in the nation’s dedication to honouring the vital contributions of farmers to Ghana’s agricultural landscape and economic vitality.
In a press briefing by the Acting Chief Director of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Mr. Paul Siameh, stated that this year’s Farmers Day celebration is a unique approach, departing from the tradition, where there will be no separate regional celebrations.
Instead, each region has been tasked with selecting nominees across ten award categories. These nominees will travel to Accra to be honoured at the national ceremony, allowing for a more cohesive and unified celebration of agricultural excellence.
He highlighted that during the awards night, Regional Ministers will personally present awards to the winners from their respective regions, reinforcing the importance of regional representation and the collaborative spirit of the celebration.

play a vital role in sustaining our communities,” Mr. Siameh remarked, emphasizing the importance of recognizing the hard work and dedication of farmers.
The opening day of the event featured a vibrant exhibition showcasing an impressive variety of food items. Farmers from across the country displayed a wide array of fresh produce, traditional staples, and innovative farming products.
This exhibition provides attendees with a unique opportunity to explore Ghana’s agricultural diversity, showcasing the various techniques and practices that contribute to successful farming.
Visitors can witness first-hand, the impressive yields that local farmers have cultivated, reflecting the hard work and commitment of Ghana’s agricultural community.
With the Greater Accra Region proudly hosting this milestone 40th edition, National Farmers’ Day aims not only to celebrate but also to reward the unwavering dedication of farmers who contribute tirelessly to Ghana’s agricultural sector.
The celebration highlights their crucial role in advancing food security, fostering rural development, and driving national economic growth. It is an opportunity to bring together farmers, stakeholders, and the public to celebrate the resilience and innovation of Ghanaian farmers.
The national celebration promises to be an inspiring evening, showcasing the resilience and innovation of Ghanaian farmers while emphasizing the government’s ongoing commitment to agricultural development.
This year’s event not only serves to honour outstanding achievements but also aims to motivate future generations of farmers to continue contributing to the nation’s agricultural sector. It stands as a testament to the importance of agriculture in Ghana’s overall development strategy.
It was noted that the final awards event will take place at the Alisa Hotel in North Ridge, Accra, starting at 4:00 p.m.
