The 6th Annual HempTech Conference, Africa’s longest-running hemp-focused conference, will take place in Accra on June 19th – 20th, 2026, bringing together international investors, policymakers, innovators, and Diaspora leaders for one of the continent’s most important gatherings on industrial hemp and agricultural transformation.
The conference is commencing on June 19th, the internationally recognized day commemorating the end of slavery in Texas in the United States, giving this year’s event deeper significance as a platform for economic empowerment, ownership, and long-term wealth creation for people of African descent worldwide.
Under the theme “Green Energy, Digital Innovation, Value Addition, Farming Infrastructure, Legalities, and Diaspora Engagement for Successful Agribusiness,” the event is designed to attract serious stakeholders seeking strategic opportunities in one of the fastest-growing sectors in global agriculture.
International Speakers and Global Leadership
This year’s conference will welcome an influential lineup of international participants, including:
– Attorney, Scheril Murray Powell Esq., internationally recognized cannabis attorney and President of the Ethiopian World Federation, Inc., who was recently appointed by the Crown Council of Ethiopia as a Special Representative to the African Diaspora, reflecting her expanding diplomatic and industry influence.

Government and Diplomatic Engagement
Organizers have engaged and formally invited representatives from:

– Ghana Ministry of Interior
– Ghana Diaspora Affairs Office of the President
– Embassy of the Netherlands in Ghana
The inclusion of the Dutch Embassy follows renewed agricultural cooperation after the recent Netherlands visit by Ghana’s Ministry of Agriculture, reinforcing international interest in strengthening Ghana’s farming sector through innovation and farmer support.
The United States government also continues to make international hemp education funding and agricultural development grants available globally, creating a major opportunity for American Diaspora partnerships with Ghana institutions and private sector leaders.
A Strategic Moment for Ghana
The conference comes at a pivotal time as Ghana continues to refine its hemp licensing framework. Concerns raised by local stakeholders over current licensing costs remain under judicial review, while industry participants continue to call for a more accessible path for Ghanaian farmers and entrepreneurs.
For more than five years, conference organizers have maintained engagement with the Narcotics Control Commission of Ghana, advocating for education, transparency, and responsible sector development.
The event also builds on Ghana’s growing international leadership after recent efforts by the President of Ghana at the United Nations to advance formal recognition of the legacy of slavery, further strengthening the national conversation around repatriation, Diaspora inclusion, and economic restoration.
Since Ghana’s Year of Return in 2019, the organizers have maintained a clear mission: to establish Ghana as a respected gateway for international hemp investment in Africa.
